SMART Goal Setting
I’ve been getting TONS of emails requesting information on SMART Goal setting. The acronym S.M.A.R.T. stands for:
Specific
Goals should be clear and specific, answering the questions of who, what, where, when, and why. This clarity helps focus efforts and defines what is to be achieved.
Measurable
Goals need to have criteria for measuring progress. This allows individuals to track their advancements and stay motivated by seeing how far they’ve come.
Achievable
Goals should be realistic and attainable, considering the resources and constraints. Setting achievable goals fosters a sense of accomplishment and prevents frustration.
Relevant
Goals must matter to the individual and align with broader objectives. They should be meaningful and pertinent to the person’s life and recovery journey.
Time-bound
Goals should have a deadline or timeframe, creating a sense of urgency and prompting action. This helps prioritize tasks and maintain momentum towards achieving the goal.
